Signature HealthCARE of Greeneville is enjoying its annual Camp Signature. Camp Signature is a week long program for children that is filled with fun activities, lessons in building character, yummy food, and many opportunities to connect and build relationships with the Elders within their community.
Currently we are on the path to becoming an Eden certified community where we recognize that the three plagues of loneliness, helplessness, and boredom account for the bulk of suffering among elders in long-term care settings. One of the 10 principles that guides Eden Alternative practice is the belief that healthy human habitats are environments that revolve around close and continuing contact with plants, animals, and children.
Camp Signature is an integral part of our plan to create opportunities for our elders and children of the community to connect and enjoy each other’s company through play and recreation. All throughout the week children and elders are brought together to play.
For example; Wednesday found the elders and kids having a water gun fight, Thursday they enjoyed a picnic outing to Hardin Park together, plus they enjoyed many other fun activities throughout this week.
By the end of the week bonds with be formed and memories will be made that will have a lasting impact upon generations now and yet to come. Signature HealthCARE of Greeneville is proud of its commitment to foster and promote healthy cross-generational relationships and it looks forward to continuing this annual tradition for decades to come.
